- BIO -

Originally from Bozeman, Montana, Jake Koelzer is a singer/songwriter, educator and recording artist. He studied jazz performance at Berklee College of Music and graduated from Montana State University. His music is an eclectic blend of contemporary vocal jazz, blue-eyed soul, and pop. Lively Times wrote in response to his 2010 debut album, "Koelzer conjures the low-light ambiance of hip uptown nightclubs and large downtown ballrooms, exuding confidence from flawless technique and spot-on intonation." Jake has studied with critically acclaimed musicians such as; Jake Fleming, Jeni Fleming, Ryan Matzinger, Eden Atwood, Gwendolyn Leathers, and Daniela Schauter. He has been featured with numerous trios, combos, and big-bands. Currently, Koelzer resides in Portland, Oregon promoting his recent sophomore release, Virtue and the Vice, available now.

jazz remains a prolific platform and the counterpart to koelzer's solo career. he has been featured with an array of jazz duos, trios, combos and big band ensembles. his repertoire covers music spanning classic standards: i wish you love, black orpheus, willow weep for me, stormy weather, and don't explain to original compositions and selections from the "new american songbook." 

koelzer has played with renowned jazz musicans and recording artists such as: kelly roberti, eden atwood, craig hall, jeni fleming, woody woods, eric funk, sir glen johnson, ryan matzinger, jake fleming, matthew smalls, and anne tappan, to mention a few. he has also been featured at such popular venues as: wally's - boston, beehive - boston, encore - las vegas, middle east - boston, plonk - bozeman & missoula, walkers - billings, red room cafe 939 - boston, ellen theater - bozeman, emerson theater - bozeman, etc...
